Material covering the first two-thirds of the module is provided in a bilingual booklet while a further three set texts are studied in greater detail: the contemporary Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Cronica de una muerte aninciada. Garcia Lorca's celebrated Romancero gitano, and the modern classic on the Spanish Civil War, Ramon Sender's Requiem por un campesino esnanol.
The class meets for weekly lectures and for regular seminars. Assessment is by one term essay on Garcia Marquez and a two hour examination.
