Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, students should typically be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge of some of the important traditions of poetry writing in English
- demonstrate an ability to write poetry in a range of forms
- demonstrate a developing self-reflexive awareness of their own writing practice
- demonstrate an ability to express themselves clearly in writing and in speech
Brief description
This module seeks to inform students of some important traditions of writing poetry in English, to build on their reading and study of poetic forms in the core literature moudles, and to encourage them to experiment with a range of forms, but in a modern register, using contemporary diction.
