Learning outcomes

On completion of this module, students should understand:

i)   the concept of customer service and how the logistic and distribution systems deliver service outputs

ii)   logistic systems, their components, design and management

iii) how the performance of the logistic and distribution functions can be assessed and the type of remedial measures that can be implemented.

Aims

To familiarise students with the main elements of logistics (ie transportation, storage, standardisation, information, processing), with the creation of an integrated logistics management system, and with distribution structures and their management.
