Brief description
The module deals with Spanish society and politics at the end of the nineteenth and early part of the twentieth century; the corruption of 'el turno pacifico', the defeat by the United States in the Cuban War, the consequent 'prolema de Espana' and the concern for the regeneration of Spain. Students read selected texts that illustrate this key phase in modern Spanish history and thought. [This module is especially recommended for students who were Beginners at Level 1.]
