Learning outcomes

Typically, on completion of this module, a student will be able to :

demonstrate an ability to develop, produce and present, in a specific format, a 30 minute screenplay to a specified process and a schedule.
demonstrate a mature understanding of, and an ability to sensitively manipulate, a number of complex elements in dramatic narrative construction.
apply the knowledge and skills gained in these processes to a critical reflection on their own, other students'''' and other writers'''' methods and screenplays.

Aims

In Semester 1 you will develop your ideas for a 30 minute screenplay through the writing of a 40 word Premise, a 200 word Story Outline, a 1000 word Treatment and a 1500 word Step Outline by December. In Semester 2, you'll develop and revise your Step Outline into a 30 minute (30 page, formatted) Screenplay and complete the development of your Critical Project Appraisal (2000) words max.

During the lectures and workshops over both semesters you will be extending the fundamental skills and knowledge introduced in TF20220, and developing the additional skills needed to deliver a more sustained dramatic work.
