Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

Aims

This module is core to the proposed Vision, Graphics and Visualisation degree scheme. It will expose students to current hot topics in the domain that are not covered in the more traditional contents of the modules of the scheme.

Brief description

Current hot topics in Vision Graphics and Visualisation will be presented by way of reading material and presentations followed by discussions on the various subjects.

Content

The module will be based on weekly seminars during which a subject (different each time) will be presented by a student and then discussed by all the students. The different subjects will be taken from current research done in the Vision, Graphics and Visualisation research group of the Computer Science department as well as from other places.

Module Skills

Research skills This is one of the most important aspects of the module. Research will have to be done for the various papers and presentations done as part of the assessment.  
Communication Students will have to present a critique on a chosen subject.  
Improving own Learning and Performance All the work done in the module will encourage and help student develop their learning skills.  
Personal Development and Career planning This module will focus the students on their future careers in the field of VGV
