The assignment is designed to assess the students level of comprehension of the place of gallery education in the museum context, the issues that surround contemporary practice, and the role of the National Curriculum. The project allows students to utilise their practical skills, improve communication skills, and to deliver workshops in the professional environment.
1. provide a practical grounding in art gallery education
2. study the various forms of education delivered by practising artists in galleries, museums, schools and community projects, etc
3. help prepare students for a career as a professional practising artist
4. encourage the students to develop strategies to communicate both their own work, and that of other artists, to an audience of varied age, background and ability
5. examine the role of workshops, residencies, and gallery talks within a museum or gallery's education programme
6. introduce the National Curriculum for Art in Wales
