Learning outcomes

Typically, upon completion of the module, the student will be able:

to conduct well-informed independent research and creative functioning leading to solo exposition
to evaluate critically procedures of dramaturgy and staging in the creation of a personal stylistic performance aesthetic
to review and to reflect critically upon personal creative work
to reevaluate performance practices through a process of individual devising and presentation and to accept responsibility for determining and achieving personal, creative outcomes



Aims

The aim of this advanced module is:

to involve students in a practical reflection upon, and rearticulation or refutation of, the work achieved during PF30720 Performance in Practice 1.
to review the development of the theme first introduced in PF20420 Devising Performance 1 using compositional techniques examined in PF30610 Performance Writing.
to produce a working text as the basis for the scenario of the presentation for this module
to create and present a solo performance of 15 minutes duration.

Content

This module is a production module. It is part-supervised by professional practitioners.

Criteria for assessment :

i] Practical Solo Presentation : in assessing the solo performance, the examiner will expect:
- effective practical reflection upon, and rearticulation or refutation of, the work achieved during PF30720 Performance in Practice 1 (20% of the overall presentation mark)
- effective employment of the dramaturgical procedures examined in previous modules (20%)
- effective employment of spatio-temporal procedures examined in previous modules (20%)
- effective articulation and execution of critique through solo presentation (20%)
- effective embodiment of written text in practice (20%)

ii] Working Text/ Conceptual Document : in assessing the text/ document, the examiner will expect:
- effective review of the development of the theme first introduced in PF20420 Devising Performance 1 (25% of the overall working text mark)
- effective employment of compositional techniques (25%)
- effective employment of the conceptual procedures examined in previous modules (25%)
- effective employment of spatio-temporal procedures examined in previous modules (25%)
