Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Describe the structure, function and biosysthesis of nutrients and organic macromolecules in animals
2. Demonstrate the importance of the gross anatomy of the systems involved in reproduction, lactation, nutrition, growth and development

Aims
This module will describe the structure, function and biosynthesis of nutrients and organic macromolecules and their assimilation in farm animals and horses. The importance of the gross anatomy, physiology and biochemistry of the systems involved in reproduction, lactation, nutrition, growth and development, will be investigated, using lectures and practicals. The practicals will be used to develop a fuller understanding of the gross anatomy of the reproductive and digestive systems. Furthermore, laboratory analyses will be used to identify the biochemical constituents of feed.
