Semester Assessment Creation + presentation of a tutor-led devised perf project Individual participation within the group project is assessed against the following criteria: - Conception: relevance, integrity, rigour, originality and creativity of ideas. - Realisation: appropriateness of methodology, practical ability. - Presentation: relevance, imagination and sophistication of delivery. - Group Management: effective organisation, involvement and procedure. 40%
Semester Assessment Process notebook/reflective Journal Notebooks will be assessed against the following criteria: - Research: evidence of personal study and an awareness and understanding of context. - Development: evidence of exploration and individual development; of lateral thought; integrity, originality and creativity of individual ideas. - Communication: effectiveness as an instrument for the documentation and communication of ideas. - Form: appropriate, efficient and imaginative use of media employed. 30%
Supplementary Assessment Assessment 3 may be re-submitted. Failure of Assessment 1 would necessitate 1 x 1,500 word essay, involving critical assessment of the individual demands and skills necessary for the successful conduct of practice in Performance Studies. Failure of Assessment 2 would necessitate 1 x 2,000 word essay in the form of critical assessment of the individual demands and skills necessary for the successful completion of production in Performance Studies.  

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. Employ a range of performance methodologies within specified creative processes and presentation environments
  2. Demonstrate awareness and experience of these methodologies within the practical investigation of a group process
  3. Employ and develop collaborative skills and awareness within the processes of group work
  4. Reflect critically upon the process and outcome of a practical group project

Content

Through group practical work, video screenings, project specific research, and participation in the devising and presentation of a tutor led collaborative group performance project; the students are given the opportunity to engage and develop modes and strategies of practice appropriate to the development and realisation of ensemble performance material. Project work will be presented before an audience of peers, and critically reflected upon through the individual working notebook.

Aims

Brief description

Building directly on the procedures and techniques introduced in PF10320, this module will examine uses of these procedures within the exploration and development of ensemble performance practice. This investigation will focus on the student'r understanding and recognition of the consequences of these techniques, within the context of group work and presentation. This module is compulsory for student registered for Performance Studies
