From detailed observation of individual flowers drawn and painted accurately, the students will progress to more complex studies. Composition, light, texture and colour will be explored in this course which will focus on the painting of flowers in a variety of settings and styles. Principally a watercolour course the use of mixed media and background painting will emphasize visual balance, rhythm unity and diversity as well as contrasts. The course will also cover the 'ristory of flowers? in art from the Victorian language of flowers to contemporary styles that abstract form and setting and will form the basis of the practical flower studies undertaken in class and home study.   
Students to supply their own materials.
