Brochure Text

This is an ideal course for those wishing to explore the painting of a variety of botanical topics. Starting with the basic techniques of drawing, the course gradually builds upon individual experience and confidence gained. Drawing skills and techniques will be developed through demonstrations in which we will also look at perspective drawing.   We will be looking at tonal mixtures and gradients, exploring different mediums and their suitability for your chosen subject. You will be taught a variety of drawing techniques and how to apply washes to suit your design. The course is highly illustrated and you will gain an insight into the techniques used by Master Painters and their designs, besides being taught about the botanical terms, names and functions of the plants used. At the end of the course you will be able to design, draw and mix the appropriate colours to create a realistic botanical illustration of your favourite plants. It is highly recommended that you have experience of watercolour and drawing before taking this class.
