Describe aspects of good practice within the agricultural industry and increase awareness of other farming practices

a) Good practice is identified
b) Farm enterprises are described
c) Areas of good practice are recorded

Type of farm: arable, beef, sheep, dairy
Activity: Practical, Theoretical
Outcome 2
Interpret the relationship between the farmer and consumer
Performance criteria:
a) Product mix on farm is identified
b) Marketing opportunities are identified
c) Processing of produce is described
Range
Product: Livestock, crops, alternative
Marketing: Advertising, supplier-retailer, consumer
Processing: On site, off site, commercial

Discuss the options available to farmers when deciding on enterprise selection
Performance criteria:
a) Key factors are identified
b) Relationship to other enterprises described
c) Enterprise strengths and weaknesses are assessed

.4 Writing in an academic context
Examination will provide opportunity for students to incorporate knowledge and interpretation from several modules.
.5 Oral discussion and presentation
There will be an opportunity to develop oral questioning skills during the farm visits and whilst presenting information to peer group following visit.
.6 Careers need awareness
Students will, through a series of visits, appreciate the diversity of activity in the agricultural industry.
.7 Self-management
Visits will be structured and questions prepared beforehand.

Visit presentation will be based on group work
