Henry Lamb is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography, and has been at the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences since 1983. He was awarded a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Dublin (Trinity College) in 1976, and an MSc in Ecology from the University of Minnesota (1978). His PhD research (University of Cambridge, 1982) was on the Holocene history of the forest-tundra ecotone in Labrador, Canada. In recent years, working with students and collaborators, he has carried out palaeoenvironmental research in Morocco, Turkey, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ireland and Wales, using multi-proxy analyses of lake sediments. His current focus of research is on the sediment record of Ethiopian crater lakes. Another primary interest is biodiversity, which is central to his teaching.
