Dr Alan Axford was conferred as a Fellow of Aberystwyth University at a recent graduation ceremony held on 17th July 2008. The title of Fellow is awarded as a mark of distinction, to honour people who have (or have had) an association with Aberystwyth or who have made a particular contribution to the life of Wales.

The award was presented by Professor David Lavallee, Head of the Department of Sport and Exercise Science. Dr Axford is pictured here (centre) with Professor Noel Lloyd (left), Vice-Chancellor of the University and Professor David Lavallee (right). It was particularly fitting that the award was made at this ceremony (in which students from the Department of Sport and Exercise Science graduated) as Dr Axford was nominated by this department. He has supported the Department since its inception in 2002, and has been instrumental in recent years in developing links with the local NHS that have resulted in several research projects.
