How to use the key:

Step 1 : :
1) Select one of the options in step 1 that best categorises the fungi you are trying to identify - the options include 'Stipe Viscid & Cap Viscid', 'Stipe Dry & Cap Viscid' and 'Stipe Dry & Cap Dry'.
2) Follow the link of your chosen category, this will take you to step 2 in the key.

Step 2 : :
1) Using the table in step 2 - Scroll down the 'Description of Fungi' column on the left hand side until you find a description that best identifies your fungi.
2)

Once you have found a description look across to the 'Possible Match(es)' column.
This will give you a possible match - following this link will give you photographs and descriptions of that species of fungi.

  Congratulations you have found your fungi!
3) If more that one match meets the descriptions in step 2 then a 'Refine Criteria' link is provided for further investigation. This will take you to step 3.

Step 3 : :
(only to be completed if step 2 provides more than 1 possible match):
1) Answer the 'initial' question' this will give you a match or direct you to a different section with further identification questions.
2)

Follow any subsequent links - answering questions as you go - until a match is found.
