Songs to be learned by heart through the ear

A teaching CD with parts for folk harmony from the British Isles, North America and the Republic of Georgia as taught by Joan Mills to Heartsong Choir Aberystwyth.

The CD consists of nine songs separated into the full mix, then each individual part for-grounded but with the other parts in background for reference.

Three songs from British Tradition:

Cuckoo (16th Century English round)

Green Grow’th the Holly (Carol of the cycle of the seasons, melody by Henry viii)

Three Shape-Note songs (wonderful three and four part modal harmony from the USA ‘ Old Baptist’ tradition):

Three Georgian Polyphonic Songs (as in Republic of Georgia, former USSR)

These were the first three taught by Edisher Garakanidze and Joseph Jordania when they came to Wales
