Level One The Department offers Level One modules at three levels: First language, Second language (normally for students with Welsh Second Language at Advanced Level), and Welsh for Beginners. Welsh is the teaching medium in both First and Second Language modules. CY12420 Cyfryngau Diwylliant CY12510 Cymraeg Llyfr a Chymraeg Llafar I CY12610 Cymraeg Llyfr a Chymraeg Llafar II GC10810 Diwylliant Celtaidd I GC10910 Diwylliant Celtaidd II Second Language CY10510 Braslun o Hanes ein Llên A survey of the highlights of Welsh literature: introduction to Early Poetry (Cynfeirdd), the Poets of the Princes, the Poets of the Gentry, Renaissance literature, seventeenth and eighteenth century literature, Victorian literature.
CY10610 Llenyddiaeth o 1900 Hyd Heddiw An introduction to twentieth century prose and verse, with some lectures on criticism. Novels, stories and poems by representative modern authors will be read in class.
CY10710 Cymraeg Ysgrifenedig I Exercises and class discussion to promote the correct writing of Welsh.
CY10810 Cymraeg Ysgrifenedig II A continuation of CY10710.
CY12220 Cymru Iaith a Diwylliant A background course to Welsh literature and to institutions concerned with the Welsh language and its culture. The above modules are pre-requisites for Welsh Single Honours, Welsh Joint Honours, and Literature and History of Wales Single Honours, Welsh as a Major Subject and Welsh as a Minor Subject. In addition to the above core modules the Department offers Level One modules in Irish and Breton as well as language modules there are modules available on Celtic Culture, Traditional Celtic Music and Twentieth Century Irish Literature in Translation. |
