ABERYSTWYTH MUSIC CLUB

CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

As part of its activities the ABERYSTWYTH MUSIC CLUB works with children and young people through the promotion of concerts, workshops and master classes.

The ABERYSTWYTH MUSIC CLUB is committed to protecting both children and young and vulnerable adults from physical, emotional and sexual abuse. All people working for or on behalf of the Club will work within the guidelines of the policy for the protection of children and young people.

Those involved in the running of concerts, workshops and master classes should

·       as far as possible not be alone with an individual young person, where the activity cannot be seen. Whenever possible there should be another worker or responsible adult present.

·       try to make sure that, where privacy or confidentiality are important, another adult knows where this activity is taking place. The young person should know where other people are.

·       treat all young people with respect and fairness.

·       be aware of language, tone of voice and body language adopted.

·       avoid rough, physical or sexually provocative games.

·       not be involved in scapegoating, ridiculing or rejecting.

·       avoid inappropriate and intrusive touching of any form.

·       not let any young person involve them in excessive attention seeking that is overtly sexual or physical in nature.

·       not give lifts to young people on their own, other than for short journeys. If they are alone, they should ask them to sit in the rear of the vehicle.
