Semester Assessment Each unit will be assessed by an essay written in class (hourand a half) with the questions given out one week in advance. Each essay will be worth 25%

On completion of this modules students should:

Brief description

This is a 20 credit module where students are taught in smaller groups. There are four 5-week sessions over the two semesters with each unit based on a specific theme. Each specialist topic has a co-ordinator who will be the main teacher. There will normally be at least 8 in the year with 2 specialist topic units running parallel in each session. These will take the form of five one and a half-hour workshops with some student presentations and regular preparation. The aim of the course is to develop reading and research skills in relation to a defined topic or period and to formulate and exchange ideas in group discussion Topics include: Art and the Domestic Space, Gender and Art, the Self Portrait, Renaissance Option, Camera Culture, Visual Culture of Religion, Print and Conflict, Going Wild - Nature, Landscape and the Artist.
