On completion of this module, students will have gained knowledge of France under occupation (1940-1944) and the immediate aftermath of the war from the points of view of a member of the Resistance (Vaillaud) and an arch-collaborator (Celine). They will also have gained an insight into the problems created by the Algerian War (1954-1962) and its consequeces.
