On completion of this module, a student should be able to:
1. describe the fundamental concepts of continuum mechanics and, in particular, explain the difference between solids and liquids.
2. make use of a tensorial framework, and explain its advantages.
3. derive the governing equations for a Newtonian viscous fluid and solve them exactly for some simple flows.
This module provides an introduction to Newtonian Fluid mechanics.
To introduce the basic concepts of solid and fluid mechanics and to set up the governing equations for a Newtonian viscous fluid. To provide a number of exact solutions of these governing equations.
This module is at CQFW Level 6
