On completion of this module, students should be able to:
* Perform a focused literature search into specific areas of management theory
* Identify several key developments at the frontiers of management theory
* Critically evaluate these developments in management theory
* Communicate an understanding of these developments in written form
* Demonstrate critical self-reflexive learning
* Discuss and defend their own perspective on contemporary and pervasive management issues
By examining contemporary management issues in depth, students will gain an understanding of current management thinking from both practical and theoretical perspectives. The purpose of the module is to synthesize all previous learning by exploring the boundaries of the management discipline. Not only does this help inform the Research Project module (MM35020) but also offers an insight into what students may face if they decide to continue with their studies at the postgraduate level.
This module is designed to develop and augment the knowledge and understanding of management research addressed in the core management modules. It will consist of a series of self-contained lectures given by a range of staff from across the school, each highlighting a topical or emergent issue in management research.
