Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to.
1. demonstrate and employ a wide range of dramaturgical skills in the determining of creative outcome, and to conduct successful project design and application in the field of devised performance
2. engage in a range of social and artistic activities to achieve well-defined and conceptualized creative outcomes
3. conduct well-informed independent research and creative functioning leading to solo exposition
4. evaluate critically procedures of dramaturgy and staging in the creation of a personal performance aesthetic
5. review and evaluate critically their own performance practices and accept responsibility for determining and achieving personal, creative outcomes
Brief description
THIS IS A CORE MODULE AND IS OPEN ONLY TO PERFORMANCE STUDIES STUDENTS
This is an advanced production module, resulting in the creation of two short performances.
It is intended that the solo performance shall be an 'exit work' that may assist transition into professional practice.
Aims
The specific aim of this module is to:
- present students with the advanced opportunity to realize and apply techniques for devising performance
- enable students to conceive, organise, direct and participate in two short performance pieces, one solo and one with fellow students
Content
The module contains a series of 10 x 2 hours practical sessions.
Indicative practical session topics may include: procedures of directing; advanced techniques of training and improvisation; locating performance; working with the aural, visual and virtual environment of performance
In parallel with practical sessions, students will conceive and present a short performance of 10 minutes duration with second-year colleagues on module PF20420 in a directorial capacity as well as their own solo performance of 15 minutes duration.
