| Supplementary Assessment | Assessments 1 & 3 may be re-submitted. Failure of Assessment 2 would necessitate 1 x 1,500 word essay, involving critical assessment of the editorial and technical skills necessary for the successful production of a 30-minute radio programme. |
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Produce a short radio package which shows competence in radio production techniques, including interviewing, recording, scripting and editing.
2. Show an understanding of the key production processes and professional practices relevant to factual radio production, including an awareness of editorial guidelinesand regulations.
3. Work effectively as part of a production team, showing an ability to manage time, personnel and resources.
4. Critically evaluate their own work and that of other students.
This module will provide students with a range of basic production skills required in factual radio production, including interviewing, recording, scripting and digital editing. It will also explore the editorial issues and regulatory framework which govern radio in the 21st century. Students will also look at internet radio and podcasting.
