Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
Evaluate systems analysis tools
Analyse information flows within a system
Identify and represent users' information requirements, using a variety of charting techniques
Explain some of the organisational issues involved in changing an information system
Use business process modelling methods to identify work flows
Assess the value of information in decision-making
Design a decision support system to provide senior management reports
Evaluate organisational information systems using a tool-box of measurement criteria
Brief description
The module initially includes generic content related to systems analysis and design. It has content based on IL33010 supplemented by seminars for postgraduate students, additional VLE content and tools, as well as further use of computer software. The content later focuses on specific system types and functions in organisations based on ILM4810. This includes decision support tools and system evaluation.

| Problem solving | The lectures introduce topics that are followed up with problem solving exercises using VLE and software exercises in addition to the assessment. |
| Research skills | Core elements of the module include investigation of novel approaches to systems analysis and testing alternative approaches to forecast models. |
