On completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Gain an appreciation for how criminology can help advance our knowledge of international crimes.
2. Understand and identify relevant criminological theories;
3. Apply the challenge of criminological theories to different crime types and perpetrators;
4. Present critical and well-informed argument relating to the interpretation of these sources;
5. Demonstrate an understanding of the complexity of the causal dynamics and consequences of international crimes;
6. Critically analyze the relevant literature and materials in this field and use them in critical discussion of the subject.

Brief description
The module will explore the causal dynamics and consequences of international crimes such as crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression or crimes against peace and crimes with an international dimension such as terrorism, mercenarism, cyber crime, human trafficking. The module will demonstrate how criminology can help advance our knowledge of international crimes. It will focus among other things, on the following: categories of perpetrators and victims; macro and micro level theories of deviance and causal dynamics and consequences.
