Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:

  1. ​1. Display advanced technical knowledge of the main grammatical and syntactical points of Scottish Gaelic.
  2. 2. Employ advanced research skills in the area of Scottish Gaelic language and literature.
  3. 3. Read, with the help of a dictionary, various prose pieces in Scottish Gaelic from the eighteenth century to the present.
  4. 4. Demonstrate familiarity with certain aspects of Scottish Gaelic oral tradition, culture and literature.
  5. 5. Demonstrate mastery of the most basic elements of Scottish Gaelic.

Disgrifiad cryno

An introduction to the main features of Modern Scottish Gaelic language, and an introduction to some of the highlights of its literary genres. Students must have a working knowledge of Irish to undertake this module.

Cynnwys

This module will be taught in 42 sessions of 1 hour.

3 sessions per week will be devoted to the pronunciation, grammar and structure of Scottish Gaelic.

1 session per week will be devoted to the close reading and analysis of representative literary texts.

​2 sessions per semester will focus on subject-specific literary and/or textual topics aimed specifically at PG students.

Cyfathrebu Discuss grammatical issues in seminar; be able to explain grammatical errors in the assignments and exercises, and present and discuss items of literature.
Datblygu personol a chynllunio gyrfa Students will be encouraged to reflect on their performance and progress in language exercises and improve going forward. Students will gain an understanding of another linguistic and cultural context.
Datrys Problemau Students will respond to the challenge of dealing with grammatical rues, and individual grammatical exercises.
Gwaith Tim Students will work together in group discussions, in putting together short sketches making use of their language skills.

Sgiliau ymchwil Students will apply critical and analytical thinking to their reading and analysis of literary documents.
Technoleg Gwybodaeth Students will make use of a number of online resources including dictionaries, and linguistic corpora, not only in translating material but also in assessing items of literature in terms of register and dialect.
