COVID-19 Canllawiau a dolenni ar gyfer ymchwilwyr a deiliaid gwobrau

Ceisiadau grant ymchwil

Ar hyn o bryd mae cyllidwyr ymchwil yn parhau i redeg eu cynlluniau grant ac mae eu systemau ymgeisio am grant yn gweithredu fel arfer. Fodd bynnag, darllenwch wefannau'r arianwyr unigol i gael manylion penodol y cynllun rhag ofn y byddant yn newid y dyddiadau cau (fel yn achos Horizon2020, gweler isod). Mae cysylltiadau â'r cyllidwr wedi'u cynnwys isod.

Cysylltwch â'ch RDO/EDO fel arfer am unrhyw gymorth sy'n gysylltiedig â chyllid, yn uniongyrchol at aelod o staff RDO / EDO trwy e-bost, neu rdostaff@aber.ac.uk. Er ein bod yn gweithio o bell, rydym yn gallu cynnig y cymorth arferol ar gyfer ymgeisio am grant a gellir cwblhau pob proses cyflwyno grant drwy e-bost ac ar-lein.

Fodd bynnag, rydym yn pwysleisio yn y sefyllfa presenol ei bod yn bwysicach nag erioed i ddilyn ein canllawiau ar gyflwyno grantiau a bod pob gwaith papur y cais am grant yn barod 5 diwrnod gwaith cyn y dyddiad cau. Mae'r adnodau cymorth i geisio am grant ymchwil, yn cynnwys dolenni i'r broses gwneud cais am grant, y gwaith papur sydd ei angen (costau FEC, RG1 a Moeseg) a chanllawiau cymorth cyffredinol - https://www.aber.ac.uk/cy/rbi/staff-students/toolkit/

Deiliaid gwobr

Os mae COVID19 yn cael unrhyw effaith ar gyflawni eich prosiect, cysylltwch â'ch corff ariannu neu bartner arweiniol i'w hysbysu. Mae rhai o'n prif gyrff ariannu wedi cyhoeddi canllawiau (gweler y dolenni isod) os yw'n briodol. Mae COVID19 yn fater byd-eang ac mae cyllidwyr wedi nodi y byddant yn rhoi ystyriaeth i ganlyniadau y tu hwnt i reolaeth y buddiolwr. Fel prif gyswllt eich prosiect, cysylltwch â'ch cyllidwr cyn gynted â phosibl, mor fuan ag y bydd unrhyw sefyllfa'n codi gyda'ch prosiect. Bydd cyllidwyr yn archwilio ceisiadau fesul achos a chyfrifoldeb y PI/deiliad y wobr yw hysbysu cyllidwyr o dan force majeure. Yn eich gohebiaeth gyda'r cyllidwr nodwch gyfeirnod y prosiect/teitl prosiect a cc Grantiau YBA (rfostaff@aber.ac.uk).

FfRhY a Monitro Ymchwil

Mae pob aelod o'r tîm yn gallu gweithio o bell. Byddwn yn ymdrechu i ddarparu'r un lefel o wasanaeth ond mewn gwahanol ffyrdd. Byddai'r brif sianel gyfathrebu trwy e-bost ond rydym yn hapus i gynnal cyfarfodydd rhithiol. Mae PURE ar y we ac ar wahân i waith cynnal ar gyfer uwchraddio, mae dal ar gael ynghyd â chefnogaeth.

Ar 24/03/20, cyhoeddodd Cyfarwyddwr FfRhY y DU y dylid gohirio'r dyddiad cau ar gyfer cyflwyno ar gyfer FfRhY2021: https://www.ref.ac.uk/publications/further-update-on-coronavirus-covid-19-and-ref-timetable/

Pedwar pwynt i'w nodi o'r datganiad:

1) Mae'r dyddiad cyflwyno wedi'i ohirio nes bydd rhybudd pellach. Bydd gennym 8 mis o rybudd o’r dyddiad cau newydd. Dyma'r unig ddyddiad cau sydd wedi newid.

2) Mae dyddiad y cyfrifiad ar gyfer staff gweithredol ymchwil cyflogedig yn aros yr un fath (31/07/20).

3) Ni sonwyd am ohirio'r dyddiadau cau ar gyfer effaith ymchwil (31/07/20) na chyhoeddi allbynnau (31/12/20).

4) Bydd Research England yn cynnal arolwg ysgafn i asesu'r broblem.

Ar hyn o bryd, mae'r ffenestri ar gyfer cyhoeddiadau, effaith ac amgylchedd yn aros yr un fath. Bydd Research England yn diweddaru sefydliadau cyn gynted ag y bydd unrhyw benderfyniadau ynghylch amserlen ddiwygiedig wedi'u cymryd ac ar ôl trafodaeth eang gyda'r sector.

Felly bydd yn rhaid i ni weithio yn ôl yr amserlen wreiddiol, gan na allwn ragdybio unrhyw newidiadau. Bydd y rownd Monitro Ymchwil ym mis Mai 2020 yn mynd ymlaen fel y cynlluniwyd ond o bosibl trwy MS Teams.

Dylai awduron astudiaethau achos effaith FfRhY a datganiadau amgylchedd ddefnyddio'r cyfnod hwn o weithio adref i'w diweddaru. Lle mae gweithgareddau wedi eu cynllunio ar gyfer astudiaethau achos effaith ond nad ydynt yn debygol o ddigwydd mwyach, dylai ymchwilwyr gysylltu â'u Swyddog Effaith i drafod hyn ac aildrefnu gweithgareddau.

Ni ddylai staff sydd ag allbynnau wedi'u derbyn i'w cyhoeddi nad ydynt wedi'u cyhoeddi eto, boeni ar hyn o bryd ynghylch oedi wrth gyhoeddi. Cysylltwch â'r Tîm FfRhY a Monitro Ymchwil (ymchwil@aber.ac.uk) i nodi oedi posibl.

Important update in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, relating to research projects involving face-to-face participant interaction granted ethical clearance by Aberystwyth University.

Given the exceptional nature of the situation arising as a result of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Aberystwyth University requires all ongoing research to make changes to how participant interactions are conducted. Researchers must consider if they can adapt their research to conduct participant interactions remotely. If this isn’t possible the research must be paused.

In addition, Aberystwyth University has temporarily suspended the requirement for approval of modifications that relate only to changes to participant interactions from face-to-face to remote, unless there is a substantial change to the protocol* as a result of the change. Please note that such changes would normally require a modification and will again when this situation has passed. Any other changes to your research project will still require additional approval.

Students - If you are unsure if it will be appropriate to change to remote interaction for your research projects, you should discuss this with your supervisor as soon as possible. Once the appropriate way forward has been agreed with your supervisor or department, please follow the guidance below to adapt your research.

Guidance for those who need to pause their research:

You must inform your participants that the research has been paused. In whatever communication you send to participants, it is important that you describe how any actively enrolled participants will be managed, particularly concerning any safety monitoring/follow-up etc where applicable.

Unless the changes made to pause the study result in a substantial change to protocol*, the pausing of a research study and issue of an update to participants will not need to be considered as a modification at the present time.

Guidance for those who will conduct their research remotely:

Scenario A. I have not yet begun data collection but have ethical clearance to do so. I will amend my recruitment plan to recruit and interact remotely.

Unless the changes made to the way in which you interact with participants result in a substantial change to protocol*, you will not need to submit a modification request. Simply update your recruitment documents to outline how you will remotely interact and then proceed.

Scenario B. I have already begun data collection and will now change to remote participant interaction.

Unless the changes made to the way in which you interact with participants result in a substantial change to protocol*, you will not need to submit a modification request. Simply update your recruitment documents to outline how you will remotely interact with participants and use this version moving forward. Any already active participants must be informed of the switch to remote interaction and be provided with the updated participant information sheet. It is important that you make clear to participants that if they no longer wish to participate owing to this change, or for any other reason, that they are free to withdraw at any point.

New submissions for ethical clearance

Researchers may continue to submit applications via the online ethics assessment form and to the Research Ethics Panel and reviews will continue to be conducted. However, you are not permitted to begin data collection which requires any face-to-face interactions with participants in person until further notice. The following options are possible/appropriate:

  1. Obtain ethical clearance for a project involving face-to-face interactions with participants in person.
    1. If you wish to commence data collection immediately you must amend these interactions to be conducted remotely as outlined above.
    2. If it is not possible to conduct your participant interactions remotely then you must wait until you are advised by the University that face-to-face interactions can recommence before you begin any data collection in person.
  1. If you are a student with time constraints around conducting your research and cannot conduct remote participant interactions, it is recommended that you discuss this with your supervisor as soon as possible. It may be possible to change your research to involve secondary data analysis only (i.e. data which has already been collected) so that no primary data collection is required, or it may be necessary to change the focus of your research project.

New studies relating to COVID-19

Any new studies relating to COVID-19 will require a full ethical review.  An expedited review process will be considered for any new studies relating to COVID-19 where there are proven public health grounds to commence.  To request an expedited review please contact ethics@aber.ac.uk for advice.  You will need to address the following questions:

1. What are public health grounds for the study to be conducted?

2. What is the rationale for the study to be conducted at this time?

3. Why can it not be conducted at a later time?

Researchers should send the answers to these questions with a completed approved risk assessment form to ethics@aber.ac.uk. Please title the email “New Study relating to COVID-19” and your email will be prioritised.

International Research

For international research, both UK and in-country researchers should act in accordance with guidance on COVID19 from national and regional governments, for the health, safety and wellbeing of participants and partners. AU PIs should liaise with their overseas research teams and collaborators to ensure that they are complying with their in-country Government advice in relation to COVID19.  For any queries or concerns, please contact ethics@aber.ac.uk and research@aber.ac.uk, or for CIDRA funded projects contact CIDRA@aber.c.uk

For any other ethics queries relating to new or existing research that is impacted by the current COVID-19 situation, please contact: ethics@aber.ac.uk

Ymchwil Ar-lein (Ymchwil a Gyfryngir ar y We)

O ganlyniad i bandemig COVID-19 gwelir, yn gwbl ddealladwy, duedd i wneud mwy o waith ymchwil gan ddefnyddio dulliau ar-lein. Un enghraifft amlwg yw cyfweliadau neu grwpiau ffocws a fyddai fel arfer yn cael eu cynnal wyneb yn wyneb mewn un man yn cael eu symud i lwyfannau ar-lein, neu ddefnyddio arolygon ar y we. Fodd bynnag, gall ymchwil ar-lein neu ymchwil ‘a gyfryngir ar y we’ arwain at ystyriaethau o ran moeseg a rheolaeth a allai fod yn wahanol i gynnal ymchwil wyneb yn wyneb mewn un man, ac mae angen eu hystyried yn ofalus.

Er mwyn cynnal rhagoriaeth ymchwil yn y Brifysgol, mae angen inni sicrhau bod yr holl ymchwil ar-lein yn cael ei chynnal mewn modd moesegol a phroffesiynol. Os nad ydych yn sicr ynghylch sut i gynnal eich ymchwil ar-lein, neu os hoffech ragor o arweiniad, rydym wedi darparu dolenni isod i sawl dogfen sy’n cynnig rhagor o wybodaeth yn y maes hwn.

Dylech fod yn ymwybodol bod angen cadw sawl ystyriaeth mewn cof wrth gynnal ymchwil ar-lein, a bydd y rhain yn wahanol ar gyfer prosiectau unigol. Diben y dolenni hyn yw eich cynghori ynghylch ‘arferion da’, ond os oes gennych unrhyw ymholiadau neu bryderon penodol gofynnwch am ragor o gyngor gan ethics@aber.ac.uk neu gan eich adran.
