The Aberystwyth Executive Masters programmes consisting of the Executive Global MBA (EMBA) and the Executive Masters of Management (EMMgt) are designed for experienced business leaders to equip them with the latest leadership skills and knowledge to deliver significant and lasting change within their organisations.
The programme is designed specifically for candidates that are currently strategic leaders with senior management responsibility, which may include formal governance/director responsibilities. Candidates’ responsibilities may include setting strategy, direction and vision, providing a clear sense of purpose and driving strategic intent.

The Executive Masters programmes are offered through two modes of delivery namely; fully online and, traditional classroom / workshop delivery at our main teaching site in Aberystwyth, Penglais Campus.

What courses are available?
As a candidate on the Executive Masters programme, you will study the latest management theory and acknowledged best practice in areas such as leadership, strategic operations, corporate governance and sustainability. The study of financial analysis and decision making emphasises the use of financial and accounting data to inform and improve strategic decisions and operations. The coverage of business economics provides the foundations for business decision-making across a range of functional areas.
The programmes culminate in the completion of a capstone project aimed at enabling you to apply the theories taught on the programme and to apply them to your place of work and to deliver high impact improvements in your businesses.
The Executive Masters programme employs a number of different teaching strategies including:
- Action learning sets with facilitated discussions on developing effective solutions to given business scenarios
- facilitated discussion groups focussed upon the evaluation of strategic solutions and analysis of their application into various business environments
- Seminar sessions delivered by expert business leaders identifying real-life business problems, challenges and opportunities with follow up discussions around how best practice was developed and embedded into their businesses.
- Small group teamworking exercises where candidates work together to propose effective business solutions to given scenarios where due consideration needs to be given to economic, financial and resource issues
- Academic surgeries focussing upon improving your academic thinking and writing skills.
What do the courses cover?
For the EMBA, candidates are required to successfully complete six core modules and an executive management research project. Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of Executive MBA. For the EMMgt, candidates are required to successfully complete any three modules from the EMBA portfolio of modules and two strategic improvement research projects. Successful completion of the programme leads to the award of Executive MMgt.

- Strategic Governance, Ethics and Business Sustainability
- International Business Economics
- Financial Management and Strategic Decision Making
- Executive Management Report (International Finance)
- Executive Management Report (International Business)
- Strategic Improvement Project 1 (for EMMgt only)
- Strategic Improvement Project 2 (for EMMgt only).
To complete the requirements of the course, your learning will be assessed through the completion of:
- Reports on collaborative action learning problems
- Case studies
- Oral Assessments
- Analysis reports
- Management Projects.
What are the entry requirements?
A good Honours Degree (or its equivalent) plus satisfactory references from your employer or University. Applicants without the required academic qualifications will be required to have amassed significant executive level experience of not less than five years. Suitability of experience will be assessed through interview and application form.
English Language Requirements
If you have a Bachelors degree from a UK University, you do not need to take an English proficiency test. Non-native English speakers who do not meet this requirement must obtain IELTS 6.0 or take a University-recognised test of academic English language proficiency.
