Current Students - What happens next after applying for University Accommodation?

Step 1

When will I know which type of accommodation I have been offered?

  • Applications for accommodation are processed on a first come first served basis in the date and time order that they were successfully submitted.
  • An accommodation offer* will be e-mailed to your Aberystwyth University (AU) e-mail account shortly after we receive your application, further details will be provided in this e-mail so please remember to regularly check your AU e-mails.

Step 2

How will my accommodation be allocated?

  • We will allocate you a place in residences, taking into account your preferences and will try to offer you one of your higher preferences. However, because the residences vary in the number of students they accommodate and some are more popular than others, obtaining your higher preferences cannot be guaranteed. If there is not a vacancy in your first preference of residence, we will consider all your other choices in priority order until a vacancy can be located.
  • Please note that certain students have priority and their accommodation may have been allocated as a higher priority than yours. Please see our Accommodation Priorities Policy for further information.

Step 3

 Accommodation Offer sent

  • An accommodation offer will be sent to your AU e-mail.
  • You will be given a deadline date to accept the offer by so please remember to regularly check your e-mails.

Step 4

  • Login to the Accommodation Portalas 'Current Student' using your AU username (e.g abc1) and password.

Please note that you will be given a deadline date to respond to your offer and complete the Accommodation Licence Pack, normally between 7-14 days. However, the amount of time will depend greatly on the time of year so some offers may have as little as 24 hours so please ensure that you KEEP CHECKING YOUR AU E-MAILS.

Step 6

Want to request to live with friends?

  • You can complete an association form to request to live with friends; this is included in the Accommodation Licence Pack. You will all need to have been offered the same residence in order to request to live in the same flat/house. We have sizes to suit all groups – why not compare our residences.

Step 7

Complete Induction Programme (Key Release Form)

  • At the end of the Accommodation Licence Pack you are required to complete our online Induction Programme, which will answer many frequently asked questions about your arrival at Aberystwyth and help you familiarise yourself with living in University accommodation. At the end of the induction you will need to choose an arrival date and time which will produce your 'Key Release Form'. You will need to provide a copy of your key release form (printable or electronic) and bring it with you in exchange for your room key.

Step 8
