On Saturday, 2nd of May, the Centre for Education Studies were launching a detective novel for young people aged 10-14 years old, 'Y Jaguar Glas Tywyll' (The Dark Blue Jaguar), at the 2009 Bedwen Lyfrau festival.

On Tuesday, 18th of November, The Centre for Educational Studies were launching a series of history reading books for children aged 9-13 years old – The Old Welsh Way / Yr Hen Ffordd Gymreig – in the brand new stadium at Llanelli, Parc y Scarlets. The event took place soon after Parc y Scarlets officially became the home of the Scarlets.

CAA is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Centre for Educational Studies at Aberystwyth University was established in 1982 following a call from teachers in Welsh medium secondary schools for a centre of Welsh language teaching resource to be established.
UCAC Annual Conference
UCAC – the national union for teachers in Wales held their annual conference over the weekend of the 31st of March – 1st of April. CAA Cymru was invited to attend the event to display our extensive range of high-quality educational resources.
Kirsty Williams AM and the Cabinet Secretary for Education, opened the second day of discussion at Gregynog Hall, Tregynon. There was interesting and lively discussion on varous topics such as: A new curriculum for Wales and the next steps; devolution of pay and working conditions; and planning the education workforce with the aims of reaching a million Welsh Speakers.
The conference was very busy and productive, and we would therefore, like to thank all of those who came to visit our display stand. We are looking forward to next year!

The publishers of Wales came together in Aberystwyth on March 15th to attend a special event in which the Publishing Trade Awards were presented. During the ceremony, the award for children’s bestseller in the Welsh-language books’ section was presented to CAA. The book that got them this award was Patagonia, by Sioned V. Hughes.
