Wed 29th January, 11-12pm,  Effective presentation skills - from presenting your Diss. to interviews

Come along and get some useful tips on being a more effective presenter. Whether it’s presenting your diss. or part of a job interview, you will get an opportunity to build on your strengths and work on your weaknesses.


Wed 5th February, 11-12pm, Finding graduate work and knowing your skills

This session will explore ways to understand career options; where to source graduate work and how to recognise your skills development to allow you to show your suitability when it comes to making graduate applications.


Wed 12th February, 12-1pm, Finding summer work experience - where will you go this summer?

Come and discover how to find and get work experience opportunities over the summer, work experience gives you the opportunity to develop skills, clarify your career goals and makes your graduate CV stand out.


Wed 19th February, 12-1pm, Are you feeling clueless about choosing a career?

Not got a clue which occupation you should aim for? This session will explore the process of career decision-making and provide practical help to aid you in choosing the next step.


Wed 26th February, 2-3pm, Applying for jobs - all you need to know about the application process for work placements and graduate jobs

From online application forms to CVs and covering letters, you’ll find out what you need to do to get shortlisted and to stop yourself being sifted out of the recruitment process.


Mon 2nd March, 2-3pm, Should I do a Masters?

This informative session explores reasons for taking up Masters level study, how this fits within your own career thinking, alongside practical guidance on the application process.


Wed 4th March, 12-1pm, Preparing for a job interview

Interviews have to sell YOU. Learn about the different type of questions employers use and gain advice on how to approach telephone, video, Skype and 1-to-1 interviews.


Wed 4th March, 1.15-2.15pm, The Year in Employment Scheme (YES) - all you need to know

For students who are not following an integrated degree programme, the Year in Employment Scheme (YES) is available. YES is administered by our team here in the Careers Service and has been running successfully at Aberystwyth University for over 40 years, enabling students from any subject discipline to undertake a year in employment between the second and third year of undergraduate study. Come and find out more about this unique opportunity.


Fri 6th March, 11-12pm, LinkedIn for students

This interactive workshop will take you through the process of building your profile and demonstrate how to use LinkedIn to develop your professional network and connect with employers.


Wed 11th March, 1-2pm, Excel Skills - Part 2

Excel is an essential skill to have no matter what career you are considering. This workshop involves a practical opportunity to develop your understanding and use of Excel. This session is a follow-on from the Excel workshop in semester 1 and is not suitable for complete beginners but is open to any student with a working knowledge of Excel.  It will be held in a computer room but you are welcome to use your own laptop. It is recommended that you register for this workshop so that we can send you any relevant information/worksheets beforehand.


Wed 18th March, 12-1pm, Smaller businesses - a positive career choice for graduates?

Get to know the particular issues and opportunities available when working in a smaller business and how Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) recruit and employ graduates. Includes input from a local employer.


Wed 18th March, 2-3pm, Speed interviewing

Looking to gain interview experience? Then come along to this workshop for an hour of speed interviewing! You'll be able to practice your interview skills with careers professionals and alumni. This event will not only allow you to practice your interview skills, but also provide a unique opportunity to gain valuable feedback on your interview technique and give you the chance to ask questions about your strengths and weaknesses. We'll help you nail any upcoming job interview that you're preparing for! (Numbers are limited so please book a place on this workshop in order to attend on the day.)
