Finding Work Experience

The internet provides a wealth of information relevant to all aspects of your future career. However, when it comes to looking for work experience, it can be difficult to know where to start. Using a search engine is unlikely to uncover all you need to know about work experience and different careers; to really benefit from online information, it's far more effective if you have the right starting point.

To help find the best place to start for YOU, our Careers Service team is here to help!

We provide a range of support to students seeking jobs and work experience. For example, we receive details of work experience opportunities on a regular basis and these are posted in the Opportunities section of our online portal, AberConnections. Whether you're looking for a short-term opportunity or an internship for a year, or something in between, it's always a good idea to check what's being advertised here before you start exploring other resources.

The section below provides general resources which have plenty of information on vacancies and other career-related topics.

Alternatively, you may want to look at options directly related to your area of study, in which case our Subject Specific Information will help you.

Whilst many job opportunities are advertised on the internet and in newspapers etc, a large percentage are not; for this reason, it can be very beneficial to consider making a speculative application. Again, the Careers Service can help you with this; just pop in to see us!
