Dr Debra Croft is Director of the Centre for Widening Participation and Social Inclusion (where she has worked since 2006) in various roles. She has a BSc (I, Hons) from University of London (Royal Holloway) in Geology / Environmental Science, an MSc (dist) in Mining Geology (Exeter) and a PhD in Forensic Geoscience (London, 2003). She holds a PGC Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the Open University, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Debra is responsible for managing the delivery of Aberystwyth's institutional Widening Access projects and contributing to the Welsh Government / Funding Council's Fee and Access Plans. She works with schools, colleges and the local community. Major projects include the Aberystwyth Summer University (6 weeks residential), British Science Week, the Adult Extra programme, Options Explorer (a residential taster programme for year 10s), and 'Your Choice, Your Future' days for Ceredigion year 9s. She is the Named Contact for care-leavers / looked after children / young carers and unsupported students in Aber.
