The Department’s achievements are part of a wider success story at Aberystwyth University which is rated the best in Wales and one of the top ten higher education institutions in the UK for overall student satisfaction, according to the 2016 NSS.

The results show that overall satisfaction amongst students at Aberystwyth University stands at 92% - that’s six percentage points higher than the UK figure of 86%.

Dr Bernie Tiddeman, Head of Computer Science at Aberystwyth University, said: “Here in the Department of Computer Science, we are delighted with our NSS results this year. We now have an overall satisfaction score of 91%, which is above the national figure for the programme.   When taken together with our excellent research ranking (11th in the UK for research intensity - Times Higher Education 2014) and employability (16th in the UK - Complete University Guide 2017), these results are yet more evidence that we’re the biggest, best and friendliest Computer Science department in Wales and one of the top in the UK.’

If you’re interested in studying at Aberystwyth Computer Science Department and finding out why our students are so satisfied with their courses, it’s not too late. We still have some clearing places left for the 2016-17 academic year or come along and visit during one of our Open Days.

The NSS figures follow closely on the heels of the latest employability figures for UK universities which showed that 93% of Computer Science graduates were in graduate-level work or further study six months after leaving Aberystwyth University.

The National Student Survey is carried out annually by IPSOS Mori on behalf of all the UK’s funding councils and other bodies, interviewing around 312,000 final year undergraduates in Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland
