Dr Bernard Tiddeman, who moved with his family to Aberystwyth nearly four years ago from Scotland, has been appointed Head of Department of Computer Science at Aberystwyth University.

A space scientist from Aberystwyth University will be travelling to Chile’s Atacama Desert later this week as preparations for the 2018 ExoMars mission to Mars continue.
Dr Stephen Pugh from the Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science (IMPACS) will be working on the ExoMars Panoramic Camera Instrument (PanCam) during a seven day field trial which starts on Monday 7 October.

Aberystwyth University has been ranked as the safest University in Wales and England to study following a report published today (Monday, July 22) by the Complete University Guide.
Compiled from official police data, the ranking gives the clearest picture possible of the crime rates for almost 120 universities in England and Wales.

Emanuil Tolev has received £5000 in funding from JISC under their Summer of Student Innovation Competition to further develop FundFinder, his final year project.
FundFind is an open-source tool for sharing & searching funding opportunities. Its initial focus is scholarship and science, but it can easily be modified to allow easy collection and real-time searching of other types of data.

As a group of Computer Scientists (and a Physicist), we all knew we had an interest in robotics, and in October last year we were given the opportunity to build and program an autonomous boat, so we decided to start work and later enter it as a team in the Sailbot competition, this year held near Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in June 2013

Dr Thomas Jansen has been appointed to Senior Lecturer with effect from 1st January 2013. Thomas' research areas are randomised search heuristics, in particular evolutionary algorithms and artificial immune systems.
