Ms Sonia Urbaniak

Date joined RBI and previous employment

Sonia joined RBI in September 2021, initially to deliver Festival of Research, and was later appointed as Project Manager to work on RWIF Strategy. Previously she worked as Faculty Officer in Faculty of Business and Physical Sciences, and in Planning Office as Strategic Projects Officer.

Main responsibilities at previous employment

In the Planning Office, she was responsible for drafting business cases and project proposals, as well as progressing projects through all stages of delivery and reporting to University Executive.

Education and work experience

Sonia graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2016 with BSc Business and Management, and in 2019 with MSc Management and Marketing. She has been working at University since 2013 with various roles in Hospitality and Residential Services, Business School, Mathematics Department, Vice-Chancellor's Office, Development and Alumni Relations Office, Faculty of Business and Physical Sciences, and Planning Office.

Experience and knowledge

Her previous experience includes Administrative and Personal Assistance, Events Management, Strategic and Digital Marketing, and Project Management.

Main responsibilities within RBI

In her role in RBI, Sonia manages various projects through all stages: from scoping, initiation, through delivery and project closure.

Sonia is passionate about environmental causes and science communication. Working in supporting the University and academics in creating meaningful impact, as well as bringing Aberystwyth University's research closer to the public through events and engagement activities brings her the most satisfaction.
