Art-Science collaborations and the Engagement of the Community in the Environment of the Dyfi Biosphere.

Supervisor(s): Prof. Mark Macklin and Prof. Mike Woods

Following a career in Business Management, Rhian chose a new career path and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Coastal & Marine Environment Studies with the University of Glamorgan in 2010. Since then she has been exploring the potential relationships between Art and Science by embarking on an ambitious Oil Painting project focused on the Marine Sciences and involving collaboration with Non-governmental organisations such as RSPB Cymru and exhibitions with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the National Assembly for Wales. The complementary, and perhaps critical nature of the relationship between Art and Science, confirmed for her during her degree studies, has led to Rhian’s current PhD Research project. Her progress can be followed on her website and Facebook page. Rhian commutes to Aberystwyth from Pembrokeshire.
