DIS student wins JIBS prize

The inaugural JIBS prize for the best student dissertation has been won by DIS distance learning undergraduate student, Nicola Ransom. The JIBS competition focused on the area of library information systems, bibliographic databases or other resource discovery technologies.

Nicola's dissertation, entitled "Facet of User-Assigned Tags and their effectiveness in image retrieval", succeeded in the competition against postgraduate dissertations submitted by other departments of Information Studies.
