Big Welcome and Orientation Week

Welcome to the 2021 / 22 academic year. We have created this page to help you navigate your first week with us at Aberystwyth University. Whether you're a returning to study with us or a new student joining our department, we look forward to meeting you over the course of the Big Welcome and Orientation Week.

Welcome to the department talk- Education  [X302] 

This is a 1 hour talk for students doing the Education degree scheme [X302].  It will welcome you to the department and provide you with key information required for welcome week and your time studying here.

Welcome to the department talk  Early Childhood Studies with Early Years Practitioner Status [X322] 

This is a 1 hour talk for students doing the Early Childhood Studies with Early Years Practitioner Status [X322] degree scheme. It will welcome you to the department and provide you with key information required for welcome week and your time studying here.

Compulsory

Please only attend the talk for your degree scheme

2-3pm  

Welcome to the department talk- Childhood Studies degree  scheme [X320].   

This is a 1 hour talk for students doing the Childhood Studies degree  scheme [X320].  It will welcome you to the department and provide you with key information required for welcome week and your time studying here.

Welcome to the department talk Education combined with another subject [you may be doing this as a joint honours, major or  minor degree]. 

This is a 1 hour talk for students doing Education combined with another subject [you may be doing this as a joint honours, major or  minor degree]. It will welcome you to the department and provide you with key information required for welcome week and your time studying here.

Meet your Education Peer Guide. 

A Peer Guide is a 2nd or 3rd year student in the department. They will be able to answer a range of questions on study and life at Aberystwyth

Thursday 30th September

Meet your personal tutor  (1 hour session)

Please see the outline in your welcome pack for more detail. The time and location of the session will be dependent on who your personal tutor is.  

Come and meet your personal tutor. They will be an important point of contact for you in the department so meeting them early is beneficial and gives you a chance to get to know them. As a group session it will also provide an opportunity to meet other students in the department.  

It also gives you another chance to ask any questions you may have.
