The Arts Centre
The award winning Aberystwyth Arts Centre is the largest and busiest arts centre in Wales, with a wide-ranging programme of events and activities across all art forms including drama, classical music, dance, world music, films, children's shows, literature readings, live bands, opera and comedy. It is recognised as a national centre for arts development. The Arts Centre's exhibition programme is one of the few venues in Wales acknowledged by the Arts Council as a Centre of Excellence. The Centre welcomes over 650,000 visitors a year through its doors, including nearly 100,000 attendances to its unique community arts and education programme, making it the UK's largest arts education provider.
The Arts Centre is a department of the University of Wales Aberystwyth, and sits at the heart of the university's campus, with stunning views over the town of Aberystwyth and along the coastline of Cardigan Bay.
In 2000 the Arts Centre completed a major £4.3 million redevelopment project which was largely funded by the National Lottery. The Centre has facilities unrivalled throughout much of the UK - and is recognised as a 'national flagship for the arts'.
You will find that Aberystwyth is rich in opportunities for student musicians. There are numerous choirs, symphony and chamber orchestras, brass and wind bands and plenty of chances for music-making of all kinds. Instrumental and vocal tuition is also available. The Music Centre houses practice rooms and the elegant Joseph Parry Hall, the venue for a regular series of lunchtime recitals. A recent national survey gave Aberystwyth a top rating for the number of concerts. Orchestral musicians can compete for the valuable Music Bursaries.
Brynamlwg ClubBrynamlwg is an on-campus country-pub style venue which offers people (members and the public) a comfortable place to meet, relax and have drinks and eat. A selection of daily papers is also provided for the use of members. Upstairs there is a room which members can book for meetings and there is also a very attractive high-ceilinged 60 person function room ideal for parties, weddings and larger meetings.

Members of AU staff who belong to Brynamlwg can enjoy a substantial discount on Sports Centre membership for themselves and their families. In addition all Brynamlwg members, who produce their membership card at the bar, can claim a 20% discount on drinks.
Members wanting to establish clubs or groups under the auspices of the club are warmly encouraged to do so. The committee is always looking for ways to improve what the club has to offer, so offers of assistance and fresh ideas for activities/events are always welcome.
