The aim of University induction activities is to introduce you to the range of University services which are available to postgraduate students, as well as to provide you with essential information about registration. Although we cannot welcome you all in person this year, unfortunately, we hope that induction will answer many of the questions that you may have about what you can expect, and what will be expected of you, as a postgraduate student here.
Postgraduate Induction is compulsory for all new full-time postgraduate students (Graduate School will check viewing logs)
New part-time postgraduate students are also welcome and recommended to view as well, but this is not compulsory (except for PGM9005 which will run a little later this year)
In addition to the University’s central induction activities, you will also have induction meetings within your academic department.
The Academic Engagement team in the library have now created a researchers' guide to the library: https://libguides.aber.ac.uk/researchers
All postgraduates will also be sent a link in due course to enable you to complete Equality and Diversity and Unconscious Bias training. This will give you an understanding of the broader issues around equality/diversity and raise your awareness of your responsibilities and rights as members of the University community. The training is provided by means of online tutorials. The tutorials can be done in one sitting or in 'bite-sized' chunks at your convenience. The quiz contained within the programmes must be completed for you to finish the training. The tutorial is available in both Welsh and English.
