Defibrillator in use
This video was filmed on Bondi Beach and shows the successful resuscitation of a non breathing casualty. It is a very good example of agonal breathing (abnormal breathing) and the difference that having a defibrillator can have on the casualty’s recovery.
Points to remember
- The video is now 4 years old so some of the CPR recommendations have changed slightly.
- The defibrillator is Australian and has different voice prompts to those we have.
- As the lifeguards resuscitate more frequently, they have a face mask with bag in their kit.
Some images may be distressing but as a First Aider you may have to deal with these in real life situations.
