Aberystwyth University currently works with a number of prestigious partners around the world under a number of types of agreements. We have several difficult types of agreement:
The Memorandum of Understanding
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) acknowledges the initial relationship with a partner desiring to promote academic collaboration and cultural co-operation. It facilitates continued dialogue involving research opportunities, study abroad, staff and student exchanges, recruitment and the sharing of knowledge in a specific area of mutual interest.
Students who have successfully completed a programme at the partner may be considered for entry (on an individual basis) to year 1 of a degree programme at Aberystwyth University. The agreement may also involve guest lectures by Aberystwyth academics at the partner institution or other support that ensures the development of a sound relationship.
The Memorandum of Agreement
A Memorandum of Agreement is a legal document that forms the contract between partners involved in collaborative activities such as articulations, dual degrees, joint degrees, jointly delivered programmes, multiple awards, Off –site delivery overseas or Trans National Education.
Aberystwyth University currently has a number Articulation agreements.
This is an agreement where students who satisfy a certain academic criteria on the partner programme are automatically entitled to be admitted with advanced standing to a specified programme at Aberystwyth University following detailed course mapping procedures. The credits achieved for the approved study at the partner university is transferred to contribute to the programme and award at Aberystwyth University. These agreements are normally referred to as 2 + 2 (2 years at partner and 2 years at Aberystwyth University).
