International Baccalaureate: Grade between 28-36

European Baccalaureate: Grade of 65%-75% dependent upon course.

Vysvedčenie o Maturitnej Skúške/Maturita (School leaving certificate): 3 or above.


The requirement for entry onto a Postgraduate course is successful completion of a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution. The average grade for admission is a good 2ii Hons degree, however some courses require a 2ii honours degree.

Scholarships and Funding

Undergraduate - For EU students studying in 2018/19 a repayable tuition fee loan of £9,000 will be available (subject to terms and conditions).

Postgraduate - If you’re starting a full-time or part-time postgraduate Master’s course (taught or research based) from 1 August 2018, you can apply for a Postgraduate Loan of up to £13,000 as a contribution towards your course and living costs.

Applicants from the UK/EU who place Aberystwyth University as their Firm choice through UCAS and go on to achieve at least:

There is no need to apply, awards will automatically be allocated to eligible students.

Aberystwyth Bursaries £500 -£750 depending on household income. Applicants from EU (outside of the UK) should complete and return the tuition fee support form (EU18N) for new students, which will be sent to you by the Student Finance EU Customer Services Team.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Entry requirements vary depending on the chosen course. In general, students who have completed their Vysvedčenie o Maturitnej Skúške/Maturita (School leaving certificate) with a 3 or above will be considered for entry onto most Undergraduate courses at Aberystwyth University.

Students obtaining an International Baccalaureate must attain a grade of between 24 and 29, depending on choice of course or from 65% - 75% for a European Baccalaureate.

Students achieving an overall grade of 2 in the Vysvedčenie o Maturitnej Skúške/Maturita  may be considered for an “Excellence Bursary” in specific subjects.

English Entry Requirements

All non-UK students from countries where English is not the first language are required to show evidence of sufficient knowledge of English. Our general requirement is: IELTS - 6.0-7.0. This can change dependent on the course you are studying.
