Patrick Finney becomes Head of Department

Welcoming our new Head of Department, Dr Patrick Finney

Introducing our new Head of Department, Dr Patrick Finney.

Patrick joined the Department in 2002 and is an expert in international history, especially collective memory of wartime. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and Chairs the British International History Group. Patrick's most recent book is Remembering the Second World War (Routledge), which he edited and also contributed a chapter to. Patrick is looking forward to welcoming the Department's new and returning students when term starts later this month, and he will be teaching first year undergraduates on the module The Making of the Modern World.

While welcoming Patrick into the role, we also say farewell and best wishes to Professor Richard Beardsworth, who leaves the Department to take up a senior post at the School of Politics and International Studies at the University of Leeds.
