Patrick Finney confirmed as Head of Department

Starts 1 September for five years.

We are very pleased to announce that following a competitive external appointment process Dr Patrick Finney has been appointed Head of Department of International Politics, for five years starting 1 September. Patrick joined the Department in 2002 and is a Reader in International History. His research focuses on two areas: twentieth century international history, with particular reference to the inter-war period and to issues of theory and method; and the cultural memory of conflict, especially in relation to the legacy of the Second World War. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the UK Editor of the journal Rethinking History, and Chair of the British International History Group. Patrick has already steered the department through a rather tumultuous year and we look forward to his continued leadership. Many congratulations Patrick!
