PAWS is short for Powerdown And Wake System.
PAWS is a desktop computer power management program that allows users to set times for their computer to automatically sleep and wake. This can significantly reduce electricity costs and CO2 Emissions.
Once installed on their computer users can:
- set up their profile to suit their own working practices
- check the savings that have been made by their use of PAWS
- wake up their computer from elsewhere
PAWS is automatically installed on all staff computers on the PAU domain, on computers in teaching rooms and on the public computers in libraries and computer rooms.
PAWs can be installed on University owned computers on the AU network running Windows, RedHat/Gentto Linux and Mac OS.
Further information on PAWs can be found in our FAQs
