On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

will have gained an understanding of the nature of the early Welsh narrative tradition.

will have a basic understanding of the make-up of the Four Branches.

will have been introduced to traditional and more contemporary views as to the stylistic and thematic features of the texts.

will have a basic grasp of some of the grammatical and simpler syntactic features of middle Welsh.

will have been introduced to the texts (in the original and in translation), and will be able to recognize and analyse some of their main literary and stylistic features.
